Non-States Wars

There are many non-state actors in the Middle East, some of which have armed wings and can engage in conflict with other states, as well as with other non-state actors. The ideology of these actors encompasses religion, ethnicity, nationalism, and sectarianism. While fighting with some states, they can also form coalitions with other groups and become proxies for regional powers, even establishing links with global actors. These wars are also one of the elements of continuity in the Middle East since the end of World War I. On this page, the history of these conflicts and their current situations will be analysed while attempting to assess the possible cease-fire and peace process.
